Pawsitive Steps Walk And Care @ San Marcos
Ayla & Guest's Pets
I’ve been passionate about animals for as long as I can remember. I have years of experience caring for a variety of animals, from dogs and cats to chickens, goats, ponies, and even llamas. I share my life with a high-energy Husky, so I’m very familiar with the needs of active breeds. I’ve also raised my dog’s litters, giving me hands-on experience with puppy care, training, and socialization.
I’ve often been called an ‘animal whisperer’ because of my natural ability to connect with pets and understand their unique personalities and needs. While I don’t hold an official certification, many people have praised my skills as a dog trainer and encouraged me to pursue it professionally.
What I love most about being with pets is the trust and bond we build. Whether it’s helping a dog burn off energy on a walk, providing gentle care for a senior pup, or reinforcing positive behaviors, I find so much joy in supporting their happiness and well-being. Animals bring out the best in us, and I’m grateful for every opportunity to care for them.
I currently have a 12-year-old Husky, which has been an incredibly rewarding and evolving experience. Huskies are known for their intelligence, energy, and strong personalities, and I’ve spent years meeting the unique needs of such an active breed through exercise, play, and mental stimulation. As he’s gotten older, I’ve learned to adapt to his changing needs, providing gentle walks, extra care, and accommodations to keep him comfortable and happy in his senior years.
I’ve also raised my dog’s litters, which gave me hands-on experience in puppy care, from socialization and feeding routines to basic training. This taught me the importance of patience, consistency, and understanding dogs at every stage of life.
Beyond my own dog, I’ve cared for a variety of animals, including cats, chickens, goats, ponies, and llamas. I’ve often been described as an ‘animal whisperer’ because of my natural ability to connect with pets and understand their unique needs. Caring for my Husky, especially as he ages, has deepened my passion for providing pets with the love, attention, and tailored care they deserve.

A Day in the Life of Fun Activities with Dogs:
When I spend a day with dogs, I focus on making it enriching, active, and full of joy. A typical day starts with a brisk morning walk to help dogs release energy, stretch their legs, and enjoy some fresh air. For high-energy breeds, like Huskies, we might venture to a local park or trail for an extended hike, where they can take in new sights, smells, and sounds while getting the exercise they need. For older or smaller dogs, I adjust the pace, providing a gentle stroll so they can explore comfortably.
After the walk, we spend time engaging in activities tailored to the dog’s needs. This could include interactive playtime with favorite toys, like fetch with a ball, tug-of-war, or a fun game of hide-and-seek to keep them mentally stimulated. If training is needed, I incorporate positive reinforcement sessions to work on commands like sit, stay, and recall, making learning fun and rewarding.
For dogs that thrive on mental challenges, I might introduce puzzle toys or food-based enrichment games, encouraging them to use their noses and brains to solve problems and stay occupied. These activities not only tire dogs out but also help reduce anxiety or boredom.
In the afternoon, I prioritize relaxation and downtime, especially for senior dogs who may need a nap. I give them plenty of affection, belly rubs, or quiet companionship to make them feel safe and loved. If the weather allows, we might lounge outside for some sunbathing and fresh air.
To finish the day, we head out for a second walk—this time a little slower and more relaxed, allowing dogs to wind down and enjoy the sights and sounds of the evening.
Throughout the day, my priority is keeping each dog happy, active, and cared for based on their unique energy levels and needs. Whether it’s an adventure-packed day or a cozy, slower-paced one, I ensure every dog gets the attention, exercise, and affection they deserve.
