Summary.

As a dog sitter, my primary goal is to ensure that your dog feels safe, loved, and entertained while you're away. Each day is structured to mimic the familiar routines that your dog enjoys, ensuring they remain comfortable and happy in your absence. I start my day with a quick check-in, assessing how your dog is feeling—whether they’re full of energy or prefer a slower pace that day.

The morning usually begins with a walk. I like to take the dogs on a stroll around the neighborhood or to a nearby park, depending on their preferences. This gives them a chance to stretch their legs, get some fresh air, and take care of business. For some dogs, morning walks are essential for burning off energy, while others may simply enjoy the time to sniff around and explore. I always make sure to keep an eye on them, ensuring they’re not pulling too hard on the leash or getting overly excited by other animals.

After the walk, we’ll head back home where I’ll typically offer them some water and possibly a light snack or breakfast if that’s part of their routine. Once they’ve had time to eat or relax, I make sure to engage them in a game or activity to keep their minds active. Some dogs love a good game of fetch, while others prefer tug-of-war or puzzle toys that stimulate them mentally. If your dog enjoys the company of other dogs, I also arrange playdates with any of the other dogs I may be sitting at the same time, always keeping safety and comfort in mind.

Throughout the day, I maintain a balance of physical exercise and downtime. Some dogs may want to cuddle up and rest after playtime, so I’ll set up a cozy spot for them to relax while I read, work, or engage in other tasks around the house. Others may need more frequent interactions, so I make sure to provide lots of affection, petting, and attention, especially if they’re feeling a bit lonely. I’ll also follow any specific instructions you’ve provided regarding routines like bathroom breaks, meal times, or any medications.

As the afternoon approaches, we’ll usually head out for another walk, if your dog is up for it. If not, we may do a fun indoor activity like teaching new tricks, playing hide and seek, or simply having a cuddle session. I aim to keep things varied so your dog doesn't get bored, always respecting their energy levels and mood.

When it’s time to wind down for the evening, I make sure your dog has their last meal and another bathroom break before settling in for the night. Depending on their sleeping habits, I may offer them a comfortable bed or blanket, ensuring they feel secure and relaxed. If they’re accustomed to being near you at night, I’ll make sure they’re as close to me as they need to be to feel at ease.

Overall, as a dog sitter, I make it my mission to provide a routine that feels familiar and comforting, keeping your dog’s physical, mental, and emotional needs met while you’re away.
